Delicious Doughnuts
We bring you a mouth-watering recipe from Ms A. Gupta to make your Christmas and New Year special.Ingredients:
● All-purpose flour: 1 cup (Maida)
● Egg: 1
● Powdered Sugar: 3/4th cup
● Butter/ white oil (for dough): ½ cup
(for deep frying): 1 cup
● Baking soda: ½ tsp
Method:
For the dough:Take the all-purpose flour in a mixing bowl. Add the baking soda and mix it with the flour. Add butter/oil and knead it for 2 minutes. Take the egg in a separate bowl and stir it well. Pour the egg mix and knead the flour again. Add the powdered sugar and knead it till it becomes light. Leave it for a few minutes. Make medium-sized balls and roll them into ½ inch thickness. For making the shapes similar, you can use doughnut cutters or 2 sharp edged bowls, one of 2-inch diameter for the outer circle and one of ½ inch diameter for the inner circle.
For frying the doughnuts:Put butter/ white oil in a deep pan and heat it. Wait till it is hot. Lower the heat. Deep fry each doughnut until golden brown. You can fry 2 to 3 doughnuts at a time. Carefully remove the doughnuts from the pan and place them on a plate covered with a sheet of brown paper to soak extra oil. Repeat with remaining doughnuts. One can sprinkle some powdered sugar while they are still hot. You can have the doughnuts with a hot cup of coffee or with hot chocolate.
