Santiniketan: A Dip in the Authentic

In January, we travelled with our members to the artistic and cultural hubs of Santiniketan. Instead of the usual hotels, we chose to stay in a charming mud house in the peaceful village of Goalpara.
A visit to Tagore’s home allowed us to step into the poet’s world and feel his presence around us. Then, we dove deep into the arts. At Praxis Techné, the men attended a workshop on cyanotype printing, using flowers from the garden to create intricate images in blue tones, while the women tried their hand at the age-old crafts of batik printing and tie-and-dye methods.
A soulful baul music performance by Basudeb Das Baul and his group provided the perfect finale. As we explored Santiniketan, we reconnected with our roots and experienced a sort of homecoming—moving through nature and the arts, and back to our true selves.
