Arjun Sen: A Story of Resilience and Gratitude

Our Friday Evening Specials bring our members together to listen to interesting talks, engage, reflect, and draw strength from shared experiences. When we invited Mr Arjun Sen, son of our member Ms R. Sen, to chat with us, we knew his story would inspire everyone. A cancer survivor of nearly 30 years with over 20 surgeries, his life is now the subject of the globally acclaimed film I Want to Talk, directed by Shoojit Sircar and starring Abhishek Bachchan.
Asked about the greatest lesson he learnt through his ordeals, Mr Sen reflected on his debt to the teams of doctors and nurses and mentioned the power of gratitude. He wholeheartedly thanked Support Elders for assisting his mother and urged members to express their appreciation regularly to their helpers. "Who supports Support Elders?" he wondered aloud. "It’s important to support those who support us."
The session struck a chord with our attendees. According to our member Ms S. Mozumdar, it was a “wonderful, inspirational programme.” We are fortunate to have members who are glad to be part of the Support Elders family, and it was heartening to have Mr Sen reinforce this bond. His words resonated deeply, reminding us that the strength of Support Elders lies in the connections we nurture and the care we extend to one another.
