Kashmir: To the Snows and Back

Kashmir’s high altitude and steep gorges can be intimidating for senior citizens, but with our team planning elder-friendly trips, our members were able to take in the visual splendour at a slow and easy pace.
From Pahalgam’s Lidder river valley to the Tulip Garden’s bounty of colours, we moved through the fresh mountain air and swathes of flowers in bloom. A shikara ride awaited us at the Dal Lake in Srinagar, where our members sought out local products, including saffron and kahwa.
Even though it was spring, snow remained the main attraction, and in Gulmarg we took the opportunity to frolic in a pristine white patch. Our member Ms S. De said, “I felt like a child once again. And when we drove away in our cars, it seemed like the snow was travelling alongside us.”
