Fantastic Overnight Trips

We are thrilled to share the thumping success of our recent overnight trips to the picturesque Shantiniketan and the exciting Sundarbans.

Shantiniketan Bliss

In the last week of November, 18 members set off on a two-day trip to Shantiniketan, accompanied by the Support Elders staff.
The homestay, nestled in nature's embrace, afforded a cosy stay. Our members had a fantastic cultural experience at Sonajhuri Haat, a vibrant market showcasing traditional gift items.
On day two, we visited Konkhalitala and Rabindra Bhaban, now transformed into a captivating museum. Our members were enchanted by the different artefacts, including Rabindranath Tagore's cherished car. The historical houses of Tagore unfolded the cultural treasures of Shantiniketan.
Lunch comprised traditional Bengali cuisine - rice, dal, posto curry, fish/ chicken curry and sandesh. The evening reached its peak with soulful Baul performers and members crafting a harmonious symphony of joy. As we bid farewell to Shantiniketan, we felt gratified by the smiles on our members' faces.

Adventurous Sundarbans

In mid-December last year, 46 members, accompanied by our dedicated team of Support Elders staff, embarked on an exciting journey to the enchanting Sundarbans. The members boarded the bus at 8:30 a.m, and reached Godkhali by noon, where our staff assisted them onto a specially-booked launch. With lunch served onboard, we arrived in Sundarbans by 3:30 p.m. We were greeted by the welcome sight of a resort nestled amidst picturesque paddy fields.
In the evening, our members enjoyed an enchanting display of the traditional jhumoor dance.
Some of our members even danced with the locals. The dinner experience was a culinary delight with roti, rice, mixed vegetable curry, paneer curry for vegetarians, and delectable mutton for non-vegetarians, concluding with delicious desserts.
The following day our members visited Gosaba Bazar, Kabiguru and Hamilton Bungalow, Pakhirala, Bird's Island/Dolphin (Ganral), Sajnekhali-Sudhanyakhali Watch Tower, Sundarkhali and Banabibi Bharani Creek, Pirkhali Jungle, Panchamukhani and Malta. Throughout this trip, our caring and compassionate staff ensured the safety and well-being of our members.
On the third day, with advance permission, we ventured into the Sunderban Reserve Forest. Safely guided back to Godkhali, the trip concluded with a drop-off at the members' residences. Our staff, ensured both enjoyment and safety for all.
